How You Can Help

You can help when misfortune strikes innocent children by your contributions of cash, bequests, life insurance, gift annuities, stocks, valued assets, and various kinds of trusts via "Planned Giving." We provide a place of refuge and healing here at the Medina Children's Home for children of misfortune.

You can help a hurting child through charitable giving of a Bequest/Will. The Federal Government encourages bequests by allowing an estate tax deduction. We are a non-profit 501(c)3 children's home, therefore all gifts are tax-deductible.

As an individual or as a group, donations of cash, groceries, clothing, or items that can be turned into cash for operating expenses may be made monthly, quarterly, or annually. There are always special needs, e.g. school supplies, clothes, birthdays, Christmas, graduation, and summer camp, which requires funding. You may consider donating by Memorials and Honorariums. Paying your respects in this manner really permits a double honor via loved ones being recognized and our children in need receiving help. Check out the Donations page for more information on all of our donor programs.

You may want to consider giving through "Planned Giving." The most common ways people like to donate are:

  • Charitable Gift Annuities (click here for more info)
  • Deferred Gift Annuities
  • Pooled Income Annuities
  • Life Insurance
  • Bequests
  • Charitable Lead Trusts
  • Charitable Remainder Unitrusts
  • Charitable Remainder Annuity Trusts

Please contact James Penland, Chief Development Officer, for info on "Planned Giving" at 830-589-2871 or via e-mail at James Penland

You may want to donate to our "Gently Used Vehicle Program" and take a tax-deduction, rather than selling or taking the trade-in value on a new automobile. The vehicle must be in running condition and have a clear title.  Call and ask for Ollie at 830-589-2871 about this program.

Volunteer help for repairs, remodeling, and new construction in and around the campus are needed from time to time, as well as donations of building materials. Call and ask for Kevin Kitchens at 830-589-2871.

You may be interested in a rewarding child-care career. Click the Applications link to download an application and see what positions are currently available. You can also call and ask for Anna Pruitt, Director of Professional Services at 830-589-2871.

Perhaps your Church Group or Civic Club would like one of our Vice-Presidents of Development to come make a presentation to your group about Medina Children's Home. You may call and ask for Ollie or Carla at 830-589-2871, and they will make the arrangements for a presentation.
